Fear is just a feeling and it diminishes as we face it. We must make it a habit to face the situation which generates fear in us. The thing which you resist always persists. So to overcome your fear you will have to face it.You can use the following techniques to get help.
1.Understand Fear-Fear is a necessary evil.It is the protection mechanism designed by our body and it is an inherent part of our personality.Whenever anyone faces any challenging situation a hormone is released in our body which is called fright and flight hormone.This hormone activates our voluntary muscles, increases our heartbeat and increases perspiration.Due to this, our body gets prepared to balance the situation and handle the challenge. Activated voluntary muscles become quick to take action. Increased heartbeat give us extra strenght and perspiration keeps our boduy temperature down. So fear helps us to become more strong.If you understand this you will never take fear as a negative thing but you will take it as your friend in need. Every fearful situation you face will make you more strong.
2.Gain knowledge- We are fearful of the things which are unknown to us. Primitive man was afraid of fire but when he got the knowledge about the fire he found it a useful tool. Than he learned to control fire and now we are no longer afraid of fire. So there are a lot of things which make us afraid just because of our ignorence. Just try to gain the knowlege,gather information and learn about it. This will give you confidence and your fear will vanish once you know the secret.
3. Prepare and practice- Nobody can learn swimming without entering into water. If you want to face any exam or want to deliver a speech or want to go for rock climbing, you will have to prepare yourself for it. Practice is the key to confidence. Once you are prepared enough you will no more be afraid of the task which you want to do.
4. Visualize- Everything is created in our mind first. Thoughts become things. So if you want to achieve something, just start visualising that you have already achieved that milestone. Begining of every great achievement was just thoughts in beginning. If you can think it, you can achieve it.
5. Get Inspired- Search for any source of inspiration. It can be any role model, any friend, Any motivating book or the life story of any brave legend. You just need a spark to burn the candle of fearlessness in your mind. So search for inspiration and get motivated.
6. Think about long term benefits- If you are keeping yourself on backfoot for present comfort you will have to suffer in the future. Always think about long term benefits of any situation.APJ Abdul Kalam was born in a poor family. His father was not having money for higher education but instead of surrendering to the situation he went for getting education and suffered a lot but later on his hardwork resulted into success and now whole world knows him. So before running away from your fears imagine the benefits in long term and get ready to face your fears.
