A monk who gave his life for River Ganga

GD Agrawal wrote three letters to PM Modi

Dr. G.D. Agarwal who was on fast for 111 days for saving river Ganga,  died of a heart attack.

G.D.Agrawal/Swami Gyan Swaroop Agrawal was an engineer and monk and part of NGO "Shri Ganga Mahasabha founded by Madan Mohan Malviya.Dr. Agrawal lived a Gandhian life in a small cottage in Chitrakoot, Swept the floor himself, washed his clothes, cooked his own food. He dressed in handspun, woven khadi. He was a devout monk with respect for simplicity in living and reverence for nature. He was a disciple of Shankaracharya  Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati.

Dr. G.D. Agrawal was a former IIT professor and environmental engineer who was fighting for saving river Ganga. He wrote 3 letters to prime minister Mr. Modi but died, waiting for the answer.
We all know that rivers are the lifeline of any country and the deplorable plight of our rivers is the clear indication that we have exploited our mother nature beyond the limitations and if we still go on ignoring the nature than nobody can save us from the disaster.

There are few people like Dr. G. D. Agrwal who are ready to give their life for the future of humanity.but the selfish politicians and power hungry people never listen to their call. The government won the seats in the name of river Ganga. I still remember the speech of Mr. Modi when he said: " Ma Ganga has called me, and cleaning Ganga will be one of my topmost priorities". And here one man dies, waiting for Mr. Modi to reply to him but he has forgotten his promise. A whole new ministry which was made solely for Ganga has done nothing in the last four years.

However, until the nation has patriots and fighters like Dr. Agrawal there is hope. We should never let the sacrifice made by him going in vain. The nation will remember him forever because he has devoted his life for a cause. He lived for others and died for others.

People like Dr. Agrawal rarely take birth and they inspire millions by there life and keep inspiring even after their death. It is a wake-up call for the government and politicians. The government should take some concrete steps to save our pious river otherwise we will be responsible for the destruction of humanity in the future.
